Andrzej Krzanowski was born on 9th April 1951 in Bielsko-Biała and died on 1st October 1990 in Pszczyna. He studied composition from Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and accordion under Joachim Pichura's guidance at Public University of Music in Katowice. Andrzej Krzanowski was:
-a composer – he left over 100 opuses, over half of which are accordion compositions,
-an accordionist – gave concerts in many countries, performing mainly contemporary music,
-an educator – gave lectures at Music Academy in Katowice, ran accordion music contents in Germany, Finland and France. He was also connected with Public University of Music in Wrocław and Public University of Music by the name of M. Karłowicz in Katowice,
-a winner of many composers' and art prizes – he received, among many, the Prime Minister prize for creative activity for children and youth, I and II prize winner for the accordion composition at the International Composers' Contest in Digne-les-Bains (1981, 1987), I prize winner at the Chief Music Editorial Office of Polish Radio and Television Composers' Contest in Warsaw (1979), award winner at Foundation “Gaudeamus” International Contest in Holland (1981), II prize winner at the Composers' Contest in Ancona (1986),
-Witold Lutosławski and Scottish Arts Council schollarship holder,
-a music activist – he was the Chief of Polish Composers Union in Katowice, ran many concerts, took part in Jury's work at accordion and composers contests,
-a representative of Stalowa Wola Group, “¦l±ska Fala 51”, “nowy romantyzm”,
-a Czechowice-Dziedzice man – he lived and created in this town throughout his entire life, here, at the graveyard in Dziedzice, he was buried.
Music's Friends Fellowship in Katowice, Composers Contest for secondary music schools students, All-Poland Accordion Contest, The Autumn Musical Festival – “Alkagran” in Czechowice-Dziedzice, Chamber Hall at Public Music School by the name of M. Karłowicz in Katowice, Public Music School in Mława and various compositions dedicated to him are connected with his name. The Chronicle of his life, works and theme catalogue of compositions were published by Music Academy in Katowice.
